      To get in a channel, at first you need mIRC,
      pIRCh od amIRC! IRC-Server in germany are most at the UNIs.
      meist die UNIs zu nennen.

            Irc.Uni-Paderborn.de
            Irc.Uni-Erlangen.de
           
      You enter the port-nr. 6667 and then write down:
      /join #channelname.de - Ready! :-)
